Dear Beautyline,
I would like to know where I can go to have some false eyelashes
applied this weekend. I live in NYC and I've never done this before.

Dear Aspiring Glamazon,
You can do it all yourself, silly girl.
The best lashes to buy in town are at Ricky's and Patricia Fields on 8th Street.
If you are still afraid to do it yourself - call Pat Fields - and have an expert do it there.
If you do it yourself - here are some tips:
1) Cut the lash off by a third on the thinnest end.
(You don't need the lash to go all the way to the inside of your eyelid by your nose - this will make you eyes look ever smaller.)
2) The thicker end goes towards your outer eyelid.
3) Apply a thin line of glue first - as if it's liner.
4) Lightly adhere the lash on top. I like to use tweezers and cheat the corner ends up a bit to give that slight cat eye effect.
5)Let dry.
6) Add a touch of liner on top of the glue to camouflage it - and then blend some eye shadow if you like.
7) The lashes are more dramatic if you do not wear liner or shadow under the eye. Let the upper lid take center stage.

Dear Mallory,
Been there - done that. It's never any fun. Stay away from scissors yourself. And never go back to that same place again!
First - Do not let this woman rob you of a fun weekend - she already took your hair!
A long deep breath is the other thing you need right now.
Next - are you sure the uneven thing doesn't look cool? If you add Mudd or a waxy sculpting gel -
can you spike it a bit at all and force it to look cool?
If that doesn't work - what you should do is get someone - (barber shops are especially good at this because it's the only cut they do all day long) to cutall your hair so it's the exact same length al the way around - when you pull the hair between your fingers. Also - try to get someone to do this using thinning sheers.
That way - the ends are slightly thinner - and not fluffy looking - and it tends to grow out easier.
My hair has been this cut for years. It's a great cut because it looks look at an inch long - and still looks good at 8 inches long - to suit your everchanging moods.
It will all work out. Trust me.
